ECC’s Class of 2026 Steps Into the Future

鶹Ƶ President Dr. Augustine A. Boakye leads graduates during the 57th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday, May 26, at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

NEWARK, N.J. – More than 1,000 graduates, including dual enrollment students, crossed the stage during 鶹Ƶ’s 57th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday, May 26, at Prudential Center. The ceremony recognized graduates from the August 2025, December 2025, April 2026, and June 2026 graduating classes across a wide range of academic disciplines.

鶹Ƶ President Dr. Augustine A. Boakye congratulated graduates during remarks to the Class of 2026.

“Today, you leave the Prudential Center not simply as students, but as graduates prepared to embrace the opportunities and challenges ahead,” said Dr. Boakye. “The path ahead may not always be easy, but perseverance will remain one of your greatest strengths.”

The ceremony featured a commencement address from Dr. Frank Dillon, president and CEO of Global Performance Group, who also received an honorary degree in recognition of his work in leadership development, behavioral health, and community advocacy.

Class Valedictorian Linda Eddens-Tanner, a Human and Social Services graduate who earned a 4.0 GPA, addressed graduates during the ceremony. A first-generation college graduate and former foster youth, Eddens-Tanner plans to continue her education in nursing following graduation.

Class Salutatorian Dalton Moore earned a 4.0 GPA in Accounting while balancing Army Reserve service, work, and family responsibilities. A nontraditional student and Army veteran, Moore plans to transfer to the University of Alabama to continue his studies in accounting.

The ceremony also included musical performances, recognition of assistant student marshals, and the conferral of associate degrees and certificates across the College’s academic divisions.

As graduates turned their tassels and officially joined the 鶹Ƶ alumni community, the ceremony marked the beginning of the next chapter for the Class of 2026.
